Autumn

The summer in Molivos lasts until the end of September. In fact, the locals say that during this time the seas are dreamy. Ideal weather conditions for holidays, fishing, boating and excursions since the heat of summer has been welcomed by the milder climate of autumn and the August north-east wind has given up its "play" with the waves and the shores.
If you asked us what is the ideal month for a holiday in Molivos, we would say September, although in our humble opinion, Molivos is ideal at any time of the year. This time of year fish are more plenty. Τhe squids are starting to bite the baits while the bonitos are 'resting' in the waters of the surrounding area, as they swim down from the Black Sea to the southernmost seas. The land is at the peak of its supply as figs, walnuts, pomegranates and vines are ready for their final harvest.

The village changes its colours. Yellow prevails and the arrival of winter begins to be foreshadowed. Nothing though is melancholic. It’s all part of a changing backdrop that heralds the end of one circle and the beginning of another!

In October usually the wet season starts. The village changes its colours. Yellow prevails and the arrival of winter begins to be foreshadowed. Nothing though is melancholic. Tourist traffic remains active even in October to a reduced extent compared to the summer months. The days are getting shorter now but the nights are ‘sweet’ and you don't feel like staying indoors. An ideal time for the locals to relax and enjoy what they can catch up during the short summer in October before they start organizing and preparing for the olive harvest and olive oil production.

With the arrival of November, everything is now prepared for the coming winter. Most shops have taken stock of the past summer season and have closed. Grocers, mini markets, bakeries, butchers and all convenience stores remain open. Along with them, some cafes, taverns, restaurants and bars remain open throughout the winter and accommodate both permanent residents and visitors who like to enjoy up close the winter aspect of Molivos. Accommodation rental businesses, guest houses and hotels also remain active. Molivos remains alive even in winter, surprising the visitor with the diversity of the natural environment, the artistic events and the Christmas events!
