Molivos at a glance.

Settlement.
Molivos is a picturesque and traditional settlement in the northern part of Lesvos built entirely of stone and wood. It is 65 kilometers from Mytilini, where the airport and the commercial port of the island are located. In ancient times it was known as Mithymna and was mentioned by Homer in the Iliad. It is of great archaeological and cultural interest.

Castle.
The Castle of Molivos stands imposingly at the top of the hill on which the settlement has been built for about eight centuries, overlooking the Aegean Sea. It is one of the best-preserved fortified fortresses in the Mediterranean and can make the visitor travel back in time. The view of the sea and the entire island through its battlements is amazing.

Agora.
It is traditionally the commercial heart of Molivos. The cobbled street has been described as one of the most picturesque streets in the world. Shops are open from early morning until late at night. Ideal place for shopping, eating, drinking or talking a walk. The balconies of the shops offer an unobstructed view of the sea and the captivating sunset.

Port.
The picturesque port of Molivos is full of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. Probably the busiest place from dusk to late night. The view of the sunset is magnificent while the whole settlement is visible with the illuminated castle dominating the top. During the day, watercraft are available for sea excursions to nearby or more distant beaches.

Beach.
The beach is awarded the blue flag every year. In summer, there are cafes, restaurants and changing rooms for visitors. Sun-beds and umbrellas are available. The length of the beach reaches 1.5 kilometers and it is paved with pebbles, while in the sea the bottom is sandy. Easily accessible to vehicles and pedestrians. Other nearby beaches are Eftalou, Petra and Anaxos.

Sunset.
Wherever the visitor stands during the evening, the view of the sunset is magnificent. Whether walking down to the market, or enjoying the sea on the beach, or visiting the castle or the harbor or siting on a balcony, one thing is certain: the sunset will be unforgettable. All you have to do is to stand there and enjoy the sun's dip in the sea.

Cobblestones.
A walk through the stone, narrow alleys will make the visitor travel back in time, to eras when transportation was done without motorised vehicles. Evening primroses, jasmines and salkimis seduce the sense of smell, while the pure stone satisfies even the most demanding eye. The feeling of being greeted by strangers is unprecedented. The welcome is unique.

Eftalou.
It is a nearby beach opposite the Asia Minor coast, which stands out for its crystal clear waters and natural beauty. Place of Ilias Venezis and Argyris Eftaliotis. Known since ancient times for its thermal springs, it is a place of healing and relaxation even today. An amazing combination of hiking, treatment in the baths and swimming in the crystal waters.

Events.
As a center of cultural heritage, a multitude of artistic events are organized. The International Music Festival takes place every summer bringing together classical music performers of international renown. The artistic scene is surrounded by traditional music festivals, shadow theater performances and concerts by renowned Greek and foreign artists.
